FAQ
- How do I rank up? Beating an AI of your own rank or higher earns XP, and 300 XP takes you to the next rank. A win against an AI of your own rank gives 100 XP, plus 100 for each rank the AI is above you, so you can skip several ranks at once. Beating a lower-ranked AI gives no XP. A loss or draw of 20 moves or more against an AI of your rank or higher still gives up to 50 XP, but only until you reach 250 XP in your current rank. To reach the next rank, win a game or solve tsume puzzles.
- Do tsume puzzles count toward my rank? Yes. Each puzzle you solve for the first time in a tsume stage gives 5 XP for mate-in-1 and 10 XP for mate-in-3. Positions opened with "Solve this position" in the post-game review give no XP. A puzzle where you tapped "Show answer" gives no XP, even if you solve it again later.
- How do I open the next tsume stage? Each stage has 10 puzzles. Solve all 10 to open the next stage. Mistakes, hints and "Show answer" are fine as long as you solve them. Solve all 10 without a mistake or hint for 3 stars, or 7 or more for 2 stars.
- How do I replay a tsume stage? On the Tsume puzzles screen, open "Choose a stage" and pick any stage you have unlocked. Replaying never lowers your best stars. To start the current puzzle over, tap "Restart".
- How do I see why I lost? When a game ends, tap "Review". You can step through the game move by move from the start. In a lost game, the move that badly hurt your position is marked as "Mistake".
- Can I continue a game later? Yes. An unfinished game is saved. Tap "Resume game" on the home screen to pick up where you left off.
- How do coins for takebacks and hints work? Each takeback or hint uses 1 coin. You start with 50 coins and earn 5 for every win. When you run low, watch a video ad to get 50 coins. Coins cannot be bought.
- How do I turn off piece sounds or vibration? Tap the gear at the top right of the home screen to open Settings. Under "Games", switch "Piece sounds" and "Vibration" on or off separately.
- When do ads appear? A small banner appears at the bottom of the screen. A full-screen ad may appear after every second game at most, and after you finish a tsume stage, when you go on to the next stage, choose another stage, or close the tsume screen. Full-screen ads are at least 4 minutes apart. New players see none during the first 3 days after first opening the App. Video ads appear only when you choose to watch one for coins.
- How do I remove ads? In Settings, buy "Remove ads" once under "Purchases". The banner and full-screen ads go away. Coin videos stay available.
- What if I still see ads after removing them, or I changed devices? Open Settings and tap "Restore purchases" under "Purchases". If you are signed in with the Apple ID you bought with, the ads go away at no charge.
- How do I change my EEA/UK consent? Open Settings and tap "Ad privacy settings" under "Privacy" to open the consent form again. This item appears only in regions where the consent form is shown.
- Can I move my records to another device? There is no account, so records do not sync between devices. Your rank, coins, and tsume progress stay on your device. If you restore your iPhone from a backup, your records come back too. Deleting the App deletes them.
